For more than 40 years of teaching mathematics I put the most emphasis on making sense of the material while making connections among skill/concepts that may have initially seemed unrelated. My first Friday presentation is on probability and the second is on using the square unit as a conceptual model for number from basic counting thru 2nd-degree algebraic expressions.
